First there was "text message-gate" in the Kellen Winslow affair. Now there is "e-mail-gate" swirling around the Browns. On Thursday, Browns GM Phil Savage apologized to a fan for using a profane word in an e-mail response. "True, it happened", Savage wrote in an e-mail to The Plain Dealer. "We have both apologized to each other since. The Browns' fans have overwhelmingly been positive towards me since 2005, and I appreciate that greatly". The exchange came during the Browns' 29-27 win against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. The fan, who appeared on WKNR AM/850 and was identified only as Brett, informed host Tony Rizzo that he sent Savage an e-mail at 11:37 p.m. whilst the Browns were ahead in the game. He called Savage "the worst GM in the NFL" and questioned why the Browns do not use running back Jerome Harrison more, among other things. Savage responded at 12:17 a.m. 23 minutes after the game ended. His e-mail reply, "Go root for Buffalo, f -you". Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said owner Randy Lerner considered the matter to be over.
Giants Coach Tom Coughlin is often a man of few words, and there were fewer than usual on Thursday when he discussed a new leg injury to Plaxico Burress. After saying only "hamstring" to describe the problem that kept Burress out of practice, Coughlin's prognosis for recovery was "we will see". When asked if the injury occurred this week, Coughlin said, "Just now. Overnight and into today". It was not said which leg was hurt.
Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens said he's frustrated with his offensive numbers and that the style of offense is the cause of it. Owens spoke to former Cowboys player Deion Sanders in a taped interview on the NFL Network. He said he would like to win a championship with the Cowboys, but he also would like the ball. "For me to have the numbers that I have and not really being involved, it is discouraging", Owens said in the interview that aired on Thursday night. "It is frustrating, but what can I do?" Owens has 40 catches for 505 yards with 6 touchdowns. He has one touchdown in the last 4 games and has not had more than 40 receiving yards since an October 5 win over Cincinnati. Starting QB Tony Romo missed 3 of the last 4 games with a broken right pinkie. Owens has said if he complains about his position in the offense, he will be viewed as selfish, so he's tried to remain quiet.
Do not expect Adam Jones to go right back into the starting lineup when he returns against Pittsburgh on December 7. The Cowboys' defensive coaches are not sure what kind of shape Jones will be in when he returns to practice Monday. They must weigh how Jones can help the secondary and how he could affect team chemistry. Its unlikely Jones can step in after a month in alcohol rehabilitation and be the same player he was in September and early October. When Jones was suspended, he had a team high 11 pass breakups. Jones is still the only player in double-digits in that category.
What does the future hold for Bengals wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco in Cincinnati? His agent is not sure. Drew Rosenhaus informed ESPN that Ocho Cinco's fate is in Bengals owner Mike Brown's hands. "We know we are not going to bully our way out of Cincinnati", Rosenhaus said. "It is going to be Mike Brown's way or no way at all. It is going to be up to Mike Brown. He's going to decide whether or not Chad's going to be with the team in the future and we will basically take a low-key approach to that."
