Now, that's one costly snowball. New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis was fined $10,000 by the NFL for throwing snow at fans following the team's loss at Seattle on Sunday. Several fans threw snowballs at New York players and staff as they walked off the field after the Seahawks' 13-3 victory.

The player who benefited most from Mike Holmgren's 10 years in Seattle is not likely to play in the final game Holmgren coaches for the Seahawks. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who went to a Super Bowl and became a three-time Pro Bowl passer after Holmgren traded with Green Bay to get him for the 2001 season, is unlikely to play on Sunday when Seattle faces Arizona.

Like player, like former coach. This season was supposed to be the last in Seattle and the last in the coaching career of Mike Holmgren of the Seahawks, who led the Green Bay Packers from 1992-'98 and into two Super Bowls. But last week Holmgren told reporters he was reconsidering his decision to leave coaching, even though it won't be in Seattle, which has planned to replace Holmgren with Jim Mora Jr. Holmgren said he might decide not to retire. He'll make up his mind after taking some time off after the season concludes. Gee, that circumstance sounds vaguely familiar. On Sunday, ESPN's Chris Mortensen speculated that Holmgren could wind up coaching - get this - the Dallas Cowboys.

Rams receiver Torry Holt said an official used the video scoreboard to call a penalty yesterday, taking away St. Louis' biggest play of the second half against the Seattle Seahawks. After the last-play, 23-20 loss to the Seahawks (3-11), Holt said the official called pass interference after watching the replay in the third quarter. "He said he looked up in the Jumbotron and saw that I pushed off," said Holt, who is in his 10th year with the Rams (2-12). "I told him I never extended my arm. It is one thing if you extended, because that is pass interference. But everything was in motion catching the football. I don't even know if I had my hands on the guy. "That was his explanation, and I told him it was a bad call."

The Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Keary Colbert, giving him a chance to play for his third NFL team this season. Detroit added him to the roster on Monday when it put wide receiver Mike Furrey on injured reserve because of a concussion. Colbert was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 11, nearly two months after they acquired him from Denver for an undisclosed draft pick.

Middle linebacker London Fletcher and defensive linemen Andre Carter and Kedric Golston did not practice on Friday and will be game-time decisions for the Washington Redskins on Sunday against the New York Giants. All three had foot injuries in last week's 20-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks and are listed as questionable on the injury report.

The Dallas Cowboys are ready for December. On the verge of a collapse just a few weeks ago, Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware and the Cowboys guaranteed that they will be a team to watch in the final month by crushing the Seattle Seahawks 34-9 on Thursday for their 3rd straight win.

London Fletcher was one of 3 Redskins defensive starters unable to practice on Wednesday due to foot injuries, putting the middle linebacker's streak of 130 consecutive NFL starts in jeopardy. Fletcher sprained his foot in last week's 20-17 win over the Seahawks and is wearing a walking boot.

Finally, Matt Hasselbeck and Deion Branch are facing a challenge the Seahawks are thrilled to be dealing with, rust. Seattle's 3 time Pro Bowl passer and former Super Bowl MVP receiver worked with the 1st team offense for the whole practice on Friday. So each is ready to start for the 1st time in 6 weeks on Sunday against 1st place Arizona.

Wide receiver Keary Colbert was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday following a disappointing stint with the team. Colbert came to Seattle in a trade with Denver on September 17. The Seahawks gave up an undisclosed draft pick to acquire him, hoping he would boost an injury-depleted receiving corps.
