Big Ben's headache apparently isn't a big worry to his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates. Ben Roethlisberger was on the practice field on Tuesday, two days after sustaining his third concussion in as many years, but didn't take any snaps or throw any passes. He probably won't until he passes the tests the Steelers require of players who have undergone a concussion.

Shortly after the Browns completed a 4-12 season with a 31-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns confirmed on Sunday that Savage was fired. Owner Randy Lerner made the decision before the game. A source said the decision was based on problems with Savage's communication and leadership skills. Lerner is hoping to recruit former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher or New England vice president Scott Pioli to head his revamped football operation.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not stay in a hospital overnight after receiving a concussion on Sunday against Cleveland, but it is uncertain if he will practice this week. Roethlisberger lay on the ground for nearly 15 minutes after being leveled by two Browns defenders and was strapped to a stretcher as he was carried off the field.

Las Vegas sports books favor the New York Giants over the 11 other teams in the NFL playoffs to win the Super Bowl, giving 2-to-1 odds on the NFC's No. 1 seed to repeat as champions. The Tennessee Titans are the favorite among AFC teams to win a title at 4-1, closely followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers at 9-2.

The Monday morning headline: "Dominate and desecrate - Titans mock Terrible Towel, lock up the AFC's top seed." While many praised the Titans for their strong effort in a 31-14 win over the Steelers on Sunday, Steelers fans, plus national and Pittsburgh media, scorned several Tennessee players' antics. In the closing seconds of the game, at least four Titans, Keith Bulluck, Jevon Kearse, Bo Scaife and LenDale White, stomped on one of the yellow towels that Pittsburgh fans swing over their heads during games and is revered cloth throughout Steelers nation. Kearse also was seen pretending to blow his nose on a Terrible Towel.

Jeff Fisher didn't see any of his Titans stomping their feet on Terrible Towels after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seeing the footage on Monday didn't make him happy. "This was just a couple guys playing around with a towel. It was unnecessary in my opinion," Fisher said.

In the history of the NFL, three teams have had two running backs rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris did it for the undefeated Miami Dolphins in 1972. Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier each hit the K-mark for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1976, and Earnest Byner and Kevin Mack each ran for 1,000 yards for Cleveland in 1985.

Santa Claus' visit to Mike Tomlin's weekly news conference on Tuesday didn't elicit a "ho, ho, ho" from the less-than-amused Steelers coach. Bill DiFabio, a sports announcer from Washington, Pa., traditionally dresses up as Santa for the pre-Christmas press gathering and often pokes fun at the Steelers coach for a few moments.

NFL owners approved a restructured ownership plan for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday that will keep the team under the control of chairman Dan Rooney and his son. Under the plan approved by a 31-0 vote during a meeting of the owners, Rooney and his son, team president Art II, will own 30 percent of the team, meeting a league requirement on the equity on controlling ownership.

With the Browns 4-9 as they get set to play at the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, the firing of coach Romeo Crennel seems like a foregone conclusion. If owner Randy Lerner isn't able to entice former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher out of the CBS broadcast booth, Lerner will have several options for Crennel's successor. He could consider a retread, a former coach such as Brian Billick, Marty Schottenheimer, Jim Fassel or Steve Mariucci. After the Butch Davis fiasco, most presume Lerner won't dip into the college ranks again and try to lure someone like Bob Stoops of Oklahoma or Jim Tressel of Ohio State.
