Fans purchased more than 20,000 tickets to Minnesota's playoff game over six days, assuring there will be no local TV blackout when the Vikings host Philadelphia at the Metrodome on Sunday. The Vikings announced the sales results on Saturday afternoon for their wild-card playoff game with the Eagles after moving the remaining 3,100 seats that were still unsold the day before.

The NFL has given the Minnesota Vikings one last chance to sell out the Metrodome for Sunday's playoff game against Philadelphia. The Vikings have until 4:30 p.m. EST on Saturday to sell the remaining 3,100 tickets to avoid a television blackout in local markets. The task isn't as daunting as it appeared earlier in the week.

Minnesota defensive end Ray Edwards will miss Sunday's playoff game against Philadelphia with a knee injury, but the Vikings hope Pro Bowl defensive tackle Pat Williams will return after missing two games with a fractured shoulder. Coach Brad Childress said he saw good progress from Williams all week in practice.

The Vikings reported 8,000 tickets remaining at noon on New Year's Day for Sunday's game against the Eagles. The NFL has granted an extension until 3:30 p.m. local time on Friday to reach a virtual sellout, but the possibility of a local TV blackout looms.

Adrian Peterson has been cradling a football in his right arm around Minnesota's facility the past two weeks, a movie-inspired reminder of the importance of avoiding those fumbles that have plagued him this season, especially last month. Assuming Peterson solves that problem, the next carrying question is figurative: How far can he take these Vikings in the playoffs?

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams is impatient. He's planning to do everything in his power to be ready for this Sunday's playoff game against Philadelphia. Coach Brad Childress said on Monday that Williams will "try to make that push to this weekend" but was noncommittal about whether the three-time Pro Bowl pick would be able to suit up for the Eagles game.

The New York Giants were already comfortably in the playoffs. The Minnesota Vikings? There was nothing comfortable about their situation, let alone their entire season. With plenty of practice in dealing with drama, the Vikings rallied past the resting Giants for a 20-19 victory on Sunday afternoon to qualify for the postseason for the first time in four years.

Cornerback Aaron Ross is going to miss Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings due to a concussion, and the New York Giants have listed at least four other starters as 50-50 at best for what is a meaningless regular-season finale for the Super Bowl champions.

While Tom Coughlin plans to be smart with his injured players in the New York Giants' regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings, the Super Bowl champions are not going to change their basic goal - just win. If there is any question about that, recall the Giants' final regular-season game last season against the then-unbeaten New England Patriots.
