The Baltimore Ravens had Chad Pennington spinning, ducking, on his heels and on his back. When he did manage to get a pass away, they were often there to snatch it. The Ravens came up with four interceptions, including one returned 64 yards for a touchdown by Ed Reed, and won 27-9 Sunday to spoil the Miami Dolphins' first playoff game in seven seasons.

Bill Parcells is staying with the Miami Dolphins, owner Wayne Huizenga said. After the team's playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Huizenga said Parcells has decided to remain for another season. Parcells' contract allows him to leave and still receive the $9-12 million remaining on his four-year contract if the franchise is sold.

Bill Parcells, the NFL's turnaround guru, could become available to the Browns and be interested in them, according to ESPN's Chris Mortenson. Mortensen reported on Sunday that Parcells, who guided the Dolphins to a 11-5 record this year after they went 1-15 last year, would be allowed to leave the Dolphins if owner Wayne Huizenga sells the team.

The possibility Bill Parcells might leave the Miami Dolphins after only one season surfaced just as the team he rebuilt earned a playoff berth for the first time since 2001. Parcells' contract allows him to leave after one season and still receive the $12 million remaining on his four-year deal if the team is sold, owner Wayne Huizenga confirmed.

From the ugliness of 1-15 to the beauty of an AFC East title. That's the Miami Dolphins' story this season. The tale was nearly as good for the Atlanta Falcons, who went from 4-12 to an NFC wild-card berth. And for the NFC South-winning Carolina Panthers, who surged from 7-9 to 12-4. Minnesota improved by two games to 10-6 and that was good enough for the NFC North crown.

Chad Pennington was in the opposing locker room at the stadium where he spent the first eight years of his career, a big smile peeking out from a gray Miami Dolphins "Division Champions" cap. "It's always a sweet feeling to be a champion," the Dolphins quarterback said after beating the New York Jets 24-17 on Sunday.

Four days away from the biggest game of the season, Brett Favre sounded nostalgic, beaten up, hinting at a possible shoulder injury, tired and almost resigned to the fact the Jets blew their shot at the playoffs. If the end for Favre isn't on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins at Giants Stadium, it may be soon thereafter. Favre said he'll meet with general manager Mike Tannenbaum and coach Eric Mangini soon after the season because he doesn't want things to drag on and get ugly, as they did last season in Green Bay.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder expects to play against the New York Jets on Sunday, despite a knee injury that limited his practice time this week. "I'll play this week," Crowder said on Friday.

In the history of the NFL, three teams have had two running backs rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris did it for the undefeated Miami Dolphins in 1972. Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier each hit the K-mark for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1976, and Earnest Byner and Kevin Mack each ran for 1,000 yards for Cleveland in 1985.

When the Miami Dolphins missed tackles, blew coverages and ended their final offensive play with an interception in their Week 1 loss to the New York Jets, they looked a lot like the team that went 1-15 last year. The stigma of the sorriest season in Dolphins history was still fresh, and they struggled early to shake that embarrassment.
