Dennis Northcutt could have complained. He could have ripped into the Jacksonville Jaguars for signing free agent receiver Jerry Porter to a six-year, $30 million contract in March. He could have vilified receiver Matt Jones for his arrest on a felony drug charge in July. He could have mocked coaches for keeping him on the sideline when the offense struggled to establish a big-play passing game.

Jaguars receiver Jerry Porter made nearly $1 million a catch this season before going on injured reserve on Tuesday. Jacksonville placed Porter, linebacker Daryl Smith and defensive tackle Tony McDaniel on injured reserve, ending their seasons.

Running back Fred Taylor may have played his last game for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Taylor was placed on injured reserve on Thursday because of a thumb injury, ending his season with three games left and prompting questions about his future with the franchise.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will play the rest of the season without their leading receiver. The NFL upheld Matt Jones' three-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy Tuesday, meaning Jones will sit out the final three games without pay. The league handed down the suspension in October, but Jones appealed.

With his salary going up and his playing time going down, running back Fred Taylor thinks his Jaguars career maybe nearing an end. Taylor said on Wednesday he would like to play another NFL season, but realizes it might not be in the same place he spent the 1st 11 years of his career. "You do the math", Taylor said.

Former 1st round draft pick Troy Williamson never really got along with coach Brad Childress in Minnesota. His feelings have not changed since leaving there, either. Williamson, now in Jacksonville, said on Wednesday he lost respect for his former coach last year and would like to "duke it out" with him when the Jaguars host the Vikings on Sunday.

Linebacker Mike Peterson assumed his usual spot in the middle of Jacksonville's defense on Wednesday. He's unsure how long he will remain there. Peterson thinks the Jaguars (4-5) are ready to move in another direction, willing to keep the 32 year old team captain on the sideline for the rest of the season.

A man accused of shooting Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier 14 times pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment and was being held without bond. Tyrone Romaro Hartsfield, 32, stood silently as his public defender entered pleas of not guilty to charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Linebacker Mike Peterson rejoined the Jaguars on Friday, going through practice, attending meetings and trying to move on from what he called a rough few days. It remained unclear whether the team's top tackler and defensive captain would return to the starting lineup on Sunday at Detroit.

Former NFL offensive lineman Ben Coleman was sentenced to 3 years in federal jail on Friday for tax evasion, filing false loan applications and identity theft. Coleman, who played 5 of his 9 seasons with the Jaguars, was also ordered by a federal judge on Friday to repay $240,000.
